Information for new members

Below are a few points designed to ease your entry into the orchestra and to outline what’s expected of you. Remember, we are friendly! You will find that everyone is very willing to help you get used to how it all works.

Who does what

Glyn Oxley
Glyn is the Musical Director. He plans the concerts and decides what music will be rehearsed and performed. And conducts!

Andy Prouse
Andy is the Orchestral Manager. He deals with all the administration, organizing concerts, rehearsals, auditions, publicity and the hundreds of other odd jobs involved in running the orchestra. You can contact Andy on: 07711 968985,  E-mail: andyprouse@supanet.com

Attendance

Attendance at every rehearsal and concert is expected. Missing more than three rehearsals per term, for whatever reason, may result in your membership being cancelled. This might appear strict - but, with usually only five or six rehearsals between each concert, it really is vital that you don’t miss any. Missing a concert will result in your membership being cancelled! Please bring a music stand to every rehearsal/concert too!

Music

The music for each concert will be issued to you in a folder. Keep the music in the folder at all times. If for any reason you cannot attend a rehearsal the folder must be returned. You will be expected to pay for the replacement of any music that gets lost. (This could be as much as £60-£70 for the whole folder). Losing your folder is not a good idea!

Concert Dress

Male: Dinner Jacket, white shirt, black bow-tie, black socks, black shoes.

Female: Long black dress or long black skirt/black trousers with black blouse.
